Eyes Don’t Lie
Episode 6 – “Cracks in the Chaos”
[The Hallway – Outside Class 8A]
James is being led to the office by the class monitor. He looks back at the group, his eyes red. Louis won't even look at him; he’s staring at the floor, his fists clenched. The rest of the students are whispering by the lockers, watching the "thief" be led away.
Nivi: (Grabbing Louis’s arm) “Louis! Say something! You know he didn’t do it!”
Louis: (Yanking his arm away, his voice shaking) “He went back to the room alone, Nivi. He was the one with the list. And the money was in his bag. How much more proof do you need?”
Nivi: “It’s a setup! Leo was right there!”
Louis: “Leo was at the canteen with us! James is my best friend, but... I don't even know who he is anymore.”
Louis storms off toward the back of the building. Leo follows him, putting a "sympathetic" hand on Louis’s shoulder.
Leo: “It’s okay, man. Sometimes the people we trust the most are the ones who hide the most. You don't need a thief in your life.”
Nivi watches them, her blood boiling. She looks at Ruby, who is crying, and Anna, who is calmly adjusting her hair in the hallway mirror.
[The Restroom – 10 Minutes Later]
Anna is washing her hands when the door swings open and slams against the wall. Nivi walks in and locks the door behind her.
Anna: (Coolly) “Nivi? You look stressed. Did the drama get to you?”
Nivi: “How did you do it, Anna? I saw you and Leo staring at each other. I saw that nod.”
Anna: (Turning off the tap) “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was drawing.”
Nivi: “James’s bag was under his desk all lunch. You were in the room. You didn't just take the money... you put it in his bag. But he was only gone for ten seconds. How did you get it in the front pocket so fast?”
Anna: (Steps closer, her voice dropping to a whisper) “Maybe he just forgot to zip it. Or maybe... you should stop playing detective before you lose your friends too.”
Anna pushes past Nivi and leaves. Nivi notices something on the floor where Anna was standing—a small, broken piece of a silver zipper pull. She looks at her own bag, then remembers: James’s bag has the exact same silver zipper pulls.
[The Staff Room – Sneaking In]
While the teachers are busy with the "theft" meeting, Nivi slips into the staff room. She knows Leo was hanging around here earlier. She checks the trash can near the back entrance.
Deep under some papers, she finds it: A discarded practice sheet. It’s a list of all the students' names and the amount of money they paid. It’s written in Leo’s handwriting, but it’s a perfect copy of the one James was holding.
Leo didn't just watch; he prepared a fake list to keep track of the money before they even stole it.
[The Principal's Office – Outside the Door]
James is sitting on the "punishment bench," looking defeated. Leo walks up to him, leaning against the wall.
Leo: (Low voice) “Tough luck, James. Guess the 'Chaos Club' is just the 'Chaos Trio' now. Louis already told me he’s done with you.”
James: (Looking up, his voice cracking) “Why are you doing this, Leo?”
Leo: “Because you’re innocent, James. And innocent people are the easiest to break.”
From around the corner, Nivi watches, clutching the handwritten list in her hand. She looks at James, then at the staff room door. She has the evidence, but she knows she can't just show the teacher yet—she needs to prove Anna is involved, or the group will never be safe.
Nivi: (Whispering to herself) “Hang on, James. The Chaos Club isn't dead yet.”
